Joy Bain studied textiles at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee from 1985-1989. She no longer works in textiles but the bold graphic style of this medium is still very evident in her work, her transition from design to fine art has been a natural creative journey. Her style could be described as naive in the fine art tradition and by this the meaning intended is that she is naturally creative with no inhibitions. There is no division between her and her art, such honesty is a rare quality in the 21st Century. Her work is emotive and makes people laugh, which again is very positive a rare thing in the post saatchi era. She has exhibited widely internationally and is a respected painter and printmaker with a style of her own. |
