Mute swans are a common sight on the boating lake at Callendar Park which often hosts breeding

pairs. The mute swan is one of the heaviest flying birds and is the most common swan species resident in the UK. While they are iconic for their graceful “S” shaped necks and silent glide, they are actually famous for being fiercely territorial, especially during the spring breeding season.
