Callendar Park contains one of the most accessible and well preserved sections of the Antonine Wall, specifically featuring a long stretch of defensive ditch which runs along the northern end of the park. The Antonine Wall is a 37 mile Roman frontier built around AD 142 on the orders of Emperor Antoninus Pius, stretching between the Firth of Clyde and the Firth of Forth.
